Regional Growth for Southern Africa’s Prosperity (SA-TIED) (UNU-WIDER)
2017–2020
CCRED was an implementing partner of the United Nations University World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER) under the Southern Africa – Towards Inclusive Economic Development (SA-TIED) research programme between 2017 and 2020. Working with research partners across Southern Africa, CCRED led research under Work Stream 6 on Regional Growth for Southern Africa’s Prosperity. The programme aimed to strengthen economic research, capacity building, and policy dialogue to support inclusive economic development in the region.
CCRED’s research focused on regional growth, industrial development, and regional integration, with particular emphasis on identifying opportunities for stronger regional value chains, industrial upgrading, and more inclusive participation in regional and global markets. Through collaborative regional research and policy engagement, the programme contributed to building a shared understanding of the challenges and opportunities shaping industrial development and economic integration in Southern Africa.
